Where can I purchase Designer Skin products in New York City?

I am from the UK where Designer skin products are very expensive and looking at US web sites they seem to be a fraction of the cost of here in the UK. I am particularly interested in Bronze Camouflage, Angel and Pure Intentions. I plan to visit New York next month.

macey’s is a good place if you go to customer service you can get a10 per cent discount card and they have a large range of beauty products and deals have a nice trip great city for shopping

My skin is extremely oily. At work the AC is always on and oit makes my skin exhude oil more, can any one give me details about a product available in India that strips the oil away from my skin completely and is portable?

What skin care products really work?

I want to know what skin products really work. I have fairish skin and freckles. I get little red bumbs in between my eyebrows, on my chin, and right under my hairline. Proactive? SkinID? Neutrogena? MaxClairity? Murad? Clean and Clear? Clearasil?

I’m afraid it’s none of the above, lol. Honestly though, here is my skincare regime and it works wonders. The problem with most of the products out there in the market is that they contain detergent which will remove dirt, oil, and makeup but it also strips your skin of water. It’s not labelled as detergent in the ingredients but it’s called Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. When your skin is dehydrated, it breaks down more quickly and will cause you to age faster because you loose elasticity in your skin (starts to droop and wrinkle). That’s why most skin care is a huge marketing ploy. They sell you stuff that appears to work so you use it but then you begin to age prematurely so they can sell you wrinkle creams and things of that nature much faster than you ordinarily would need them… If you follow this regime and do it twice a day (morning & night) I promise you will have much clearer skin and you’ll be slowing down the aging process.

1. Start by using a good eye makeup remover. The best ones are those that are half water and half oil that you need to shake up first. Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover is perfect for that and it’s about $26 at Sephora or department stores. The reason these work best is because oil will break down makeup much faster and more gently causing you to rub your eyes a lot less which is less irritating. It’s also great at removing waterproof makeup. Use it on a cotton all over your eyes and brows if you use any pencil or powder in them.
2. Get a cream cleanser that is NOT water activated. I have one I got from Target called Boots Botanics Organic Nourishing Cleanser which is $7.99 and it works great. Simply squeeze out an amount about the size of a quarter into your DRY hands and rub it together then onto your DRY face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. You can then rinse it off with water or a damp washcloth but make sure you don’t use any water when you are working this into your face at first. I know this sounds weird but almost all the cleansers that are water-activated contain detergent and that is what causes our skin to become dehydrated. When skin is lacking water, it compensates by producing more oil. The detergent also causes blackheads because it leaves a residue on the skin that clogs the pores.
3. Use an alcohol-free toner on two cotton pads and wipe off your face in downward and outward strokes. Toner will remove any excess cleanser on your face, leaving it completely clean and fresh. I use Neutrogena’s Alcohol-Free Toner and it’s $6.49 also at Target.
4. Use a daytime moisturizer and a night cream. During the day, our skin is fighting to hold in as much water as possible but we are subjected to so many dehydrating elements that we need to replenish that moisture at night when our skin is at rest. A daytime moisturizer will help act as a barrier for your skin so even if you are oily, use one! If you’re worried about shine, go for an oil-free formula and if you are dry, use a richer moisturizer. At night, use a night cream (not the same daytime moisturizer) because night creams replenish the moisture you lost during the day. Just be sure mineral oil is not one of the ingredients in the NIGHT cream (can be in the day moisturizer) because mineral oil acts as a seal so nothing will penetrate your skin if that is in it. You can pick whatever you prefer and Target has several reasonable ones so pick what you like for your skin type.
5. Use a yoghurt mask every day if your acne is really bad and once it clears up, use it 1-2 times a week. Go to the grocery store and find either a lemon, orange, or pineapple-flavored yoghurt (any brand is fine) and apply it all over your face and let it sit for 10-15mins. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water. The cultures in yoghurt help neutralize the bacteria in pores (a blemish is simply a bacteria-filled pore) and the citric acid in the lemon, orange, or pineapple will help you exfoliate the top layer of skin which will be much better than using a scrub. DO NOT use a scrub, especially the granular ones (if you must use one, only go for one with micro-beads) because when you put that over a blemish, it will spread the bacteria to the surrounding pores and also can scar the pores which makes them bigger.

What are your favourite beauty/skin/hair/whatever products and why?

Mine:
St. Ives Apricot Scrub ’cause it takes all of the dry skin off of my face and makes it really smooth.
Spectro Gel facial cleanser because it is gentle and makes my skin soft.

Sheer Cover (from TV) definitely for make-up. Have never seen or used anything like it before. It’s great! Nivea Q10 for facial day & night cream for over 8 years now. Used Inner Science for years for hair but can’t get it here anymore, so am still searching. So far have been using Marc Anthony Shampoo & Conditioner and do like it alot.

I have huge problem with oily acne prone skin. Any ideas for really good skin products?

For an oily nature oatmeal face pack is well and good. Oats helps skin to become soft. To make this face mask you need half cup cooked oat meal. Mash half apple and mix with oatmeal to get a paste. Add 2 tsp. lemon juice also. After cleansing your face with water apply the mask on face. Wait for 10 min. and rinse.

Tomato juice is a good natural astringent and it is very good for oily acne prone skin. Take half tomato and mash it well. Add a small grated cucumber and make a paste. Then add 2tsp. lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients well. This face pack is suitable for oily skin that have a tendency to get acne, pimples. Wash your face with water. Apply this face mask on the face. Wait for 10-15 min. then wash it off.

You can also use a facial SCRUB for smoother skin. Then best ones include sand in the cream to scrub away dead skin cells and get really smooth skin. all natural. i recommend St. Ives. You can make your own facial scrub by mashing a banana with some milk till creamy. Then when you’re done, add white sugar (not powder sugar) and scrub face with it. The banana nourishes skin, the milk adds a healthy glow, and the sugar scrubs.
