Is Clinique skincare products bad for your skin?
I used to use their 3 step skincare line but when I got a facial at a spa in Vegas the lady said that Clinique uses cheap products that are bad for your skin and may cause damage over time (spots?). I switched to prescriptives which is more expensive and doesn’t seem to work as well for my face. Has anyone heard anything similar?
The spa sold Aveda skin care products. She didn’t seem to be trying to sell it to me she told me to use any other department store brand. Clinique makes my skin very smooth and clear. Now I have blackheads and breakouts are more frequent.
This lady might have been biased when she told you that. Or maybe she was using Clinique on someone and didn’t use the product as she should have.
I wouldn’t take her word for it because Clinique is an old brand, it’s sold only in Department stores, it’s not priced cheap, and they have had a good reputation for a long time.
You have to choose the product that works best for you. If it’s Clinique then stick with it. Not everyone has bad experiences from one product. Just make sure you use it and store it properly.
I’ve been using Clinique Oil Free Foundation for years and it works the best for me.
Clinique breaks me out horribly.

Cosmetics are an individual thing. What works for one, won’t necessarily work for another. Find what works for your skin and stick with it.

I am not sure about their 3 step skincare line. But I was using their foundation which claims to be dermatologist tested and help clear up your skin rather than make it worse. But I have used it for years and my acne has been the same. I finally went to a dermatologist and she said that their makeup actually makes your acne worse! So if thats the case with their makeup then I wouldn’t trust their skincare stuff either!

I don’t know for sure, but sometimes they say that to sell their products instead…

Clinique is not a bad product at all. And you were highly misinformed if you were told they used cheap products. I would assume that the lady at the spa was trying to get you to use some other product, possibly one that she might be selling. Anyhow, I use Clinique and I swear by it. Don’t stop using it unless you’ve had a bad reaction with it. Don’t believe everything you hear!….=)

I’ve never had any problems with Clinique. In fact, they’ve been great for my skin. It feels softer and smoother than ever.

Well, Clinique is one of those cheaper companies. But really, it depends on your skin. Some people may be fine with it, but some people may find the product damaging to the skin. The best thing to do it try it. If it doesn’t work, then you can switch to other more expensive products.

I haven’t heard anything similar but I would be interested to know the products that the spa sells. Sometimes spas and salons receive compensation, advertising, and other benefits from promoting certain lines.
I would also note that skincare is very personal; people are going to have different reactions to different products. One person’s reaction to clinique may be positive, another person’s negative.

My sister has used the same product you did and her skin improved a lot. i use some of their masks and it is fine. I am more of an "origins" person. Spas tend to talk crap about mass products so they can sell their own. Their products are usually the same as Clinique, Lancome, Shisheido, & Estee Lauder. The only difference is the price.
Look at yourself. Are you happy with your face? If so, then the products work. The key is moderation. Too much skin products can damage you.

Clinique is not cheap/bad products but not as good as all natural products, like burts bees or bare minerals. Clinique is very hypoallergenic and they do a lot of testing on their products on people before they put them out for the public. Go with what works well for your skin and prescriptives are not exactly honest about their products. They claim to be all natural but still put chemical preservatives in their products, they say you can’t have a makeup without them but i do it’s called bare minerals and it is the greatest makeup on the market.!!

I use Philosophy (I ordered it from the website) and my skin just stopped breaking out. Not only that – but it has a nice glow – and I don’t wear as much makeup because of that. I know skincare is really personal and it varies from person to person but try it! They also have an acne program as well. I heard proactiv is really good as well – but I have personal experience with Philosophy. Good luck! I know, I’ve been there

Everyone needs to realize that when you’re using skin products, make sure that they’re all the same chemical make-up. You wouldn’t want to mix and match. Don’t use one brand cleanser and a different brand toner. This is the number one mistake that people make. Clinique is not bad for most people’s skin. It usually is a great product. It is possible that you could have an allergic reaction but other than that you’re not going to find any products on the market that are BAD for you. God, I sure hope not with all the animals that had to die to make sure.
